Campsites

Scattered off the main path and given a wide berth from one another, Dismals Canyon primitive campsites offer the ultimate outdoor experience.

The number of campsites is limited by design in order to maintain the splendor of the pristine wilderness. They offer privacy and convenience to the canyon.

"Sleeping Water" is an example of Dismals Canyon's popular campsites. It is a separate box canyon with its own waterfall and will accommodate up to twenty campers. A perfect site for retreats.

Other primitive campsites include; "Caveman", "Dead Water Bluff", "Scout Site", and the "Bunkhouse", as well as others.

All campers have access to a modern bath house, and all campsites have fire rings.

Reservations can be made for Sleeping Water, Caveman, Scout Site and the Bunkhouse. No reservations can be made for other primitive campsites. These sites are available on a first come, first serve basis.

We do not offer RV or popup camper sites.

Camping Rates

Bath House sites 1 & 2:

$30.00 / night for 4 PLUS one time **admission fee.

Sleeping Water:

$46.50 / night for 6 PLUS one time **admission fee.

$36.00 / night for 6 PLUS one time **admission fee.
Each additional person $6.00 / night PLUS one time **admission fee.

Each additional person $7.00 / night PLUS one time **admission fee.

NO TENTS, TARPS, ETC. ALLOWED.

Each additional person $5.50 / night PLUS one time **admission fee.

Scouts:

$4.50 / night per Scout for Scout Site Only PLUS one time **admission fee of $6.00 per Scout EXCEPT ON HOLIDAYS. ON HOLIDAYS regular prices apply to admission and camping. Scouts must be 19 or under to qualify for Scout pricing - excluding Scout Leaders.

Camping
Reservation Policies

Reservations can be made for Sleeping Water, Caveman, Scout, and the Bunkhouse. NO Reservations can be made for other primitive campsites. These sites are available on a first come, first serve basis. Holidays require a 3 night minimum stay. Weekends, other than Holiday Weekends, require a 2 night minimum stay. No camping and cabin reservations permitted for the same dates.

PAYMENT

A deposit equal to the total rent is due within 7 days of your reservation request to hold the accommodations. If payment is not received within 7 days fro the date of your request the reservation will be canceled due to the high demand for these accommodations. We will be happy to process your deposit at the time of taking the reservation by use of your MasterCard, Visa, or American Express. Payment by traveler's cheque, cashier cheque, or personal cheque can be made but must follow the guidelines as stated above. Reservations made LESS THAN 14 DAYS IN ADVANCE can only be made by credit card.

CANCELLATION

If cancellation of a confirmed camping reservation should be necessary, it must be done at least 10 days prior to your arrival date at Dismals Canyon. Your total deposit will be forfeited should cancellation occur within 10 days of your scheduled arrival date. No cancellation of any reservation made less than 10 days in advance. All reservation cancellations are subject to a 4% service charge. No refunds will be given for early departures or bad weather.

CHECK-IN CHECK-OUT

You may check in any time after 3:00 pm at the Dismals Canyon Country Store. Check-out time is 12:00 noon. There may be occasional check-in delays during times of heavy departure. Our staff will do everything possible to minimize inconvenience and to make you comfortable during that time. No refunds will be given for early departures.

Camping Rules

Violation of any rule will result in immediate Eviction and Forfeiture of all fees/deposits!

Dismals Canyon is not responsible for accidents / injury / loss of money / valuables!

• All visitors must register at the Country Store. This includes anyone who visits your campsite.
• All vehicles must be registered. Vehicles without a valid parking permit will be impounded.
• No vehicles may be parked on the service road for the Scout site, NP1 and NP2 sites. Vehicles must be parked in the parking lot at the entrance by the public restrooms. This road may be used for loading and unloading only.
• No vehicles allowed at the Bunkhouse or Caveman campsites. Vehicles must be parked in the parking lot at the entrance by the public restrooms. Loading and unloading must be done on foot.
• One vehicle per campsite is allowed at campsites across Highway 8 - Sleeping Water, Dead Water Bluff and Creek sites 1,2, & 3. All other vehicles must be parked in the parking lot at the entrance by the public restrooms.
• Vehicles must stay on designated roadways at all times and can be driven only to enter and leave an area. Park in designated areas only. DO NOT drive or park on the grass.
• NO off-road vehicles, including but not limited to motorcycles, minibikes, 3/4 wheelers, etc. are permitted to be driven anywhere on Dismals Canyon property.
• Camp in designated areas only. Tents must be placed on designated impact pads. ONLY ONE TENT PER SITE unless prior approval from Management is obtained.
• NO TENTS, tarps, etc. allowed at the BUNKHOUSE. Limit of 8 people at the Bunkhouse.
• Fires in fire rings and grills only. Fires must be attended at all times, and must be completely extinguished before the campsite is left unattended or vacated.
• If a No Fire Warning has been issued anyone building a fire will be reported to the Forestry Service and immediately evicted from Dismals Canyon with Forfeiture of all fees.
• Only deadwood on the ground may be collected for firewood. NO cutting of trees/NO Chainsaws
• DO NOT collect or disturb plants or wildlife.
• Children under 16 must be attended at all times by an adult.
• Swim at your own risk. NO lifeguard provided. An adult must supervise children.
• All pets must be on a leash.
• NO pets allowed in swimming area, bathhouse, game room, store or cabins.
• NO firearms, fireworks, airguns, BB guns, explosives, bows & arrows, or any other firing device.
• Campsites must be kept clean and litter free.
• Trash/garbage must be placed in waste receptacles.
• If you must relieve yourself in the woods-deposit waste in a hole at least 6 inches deep and cover it up.
• NO walking around with alcoholic beverages.
• QUITE HOURS: 11:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M.
• Check-in Time-2:00 P.M. Checkout Time-12:00 P.M. Anyone who leaves their gear in a campsite past 12:00 P.M. without the prior approval of Management will be charged for an additional night and the gear will not be released until the bill is paid in full.
• Do not put cigarette butts, trash, etc. in flowerpots or flowerbeds. Do not walk or play in flowerbeds or flowerpots.
• No swimming, hiking, biking, or canoeing after sunset unless accompanied by a Dismals Canyon Guide.
• NO REFUNDS for bad weather or early departure. NO EXCEPTIONS!
